Description

Established in 1988 as a Reggae inspired Men’s T-shirt company, Jamaican Style quickly grew to be a leader in the Surf Industry for their bright colors and fresh designs. In the beginning, Jamaican Style saw its strongest sales and growth in California, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Japan. Capitalizing on the “One Love” vibe that Reggae and the colors Red, Gold and Green give, Jamaican Style saw its customer base grow from small “Mom and Pop” surf shops to national chain stores such as Pac Sun and Tilly’s.
T-shirts, hats, key chains and stickers were the core products for the first few years of sales. Cut-and-sew sportswear was added to compliment the multitude of Men’s T-shirt designs. Over the years, Jamaican Style sold many items to the Men’s market including, but not limited to Sweatshirts, board shorts, jackets and even Surf boards.
Reps covered all 50 states, including the US territories. Jamaican Style also had Distributors in Japan, France, Brazil, Costa Rica, Australia and Canada
Jamaican Style Ad’s ran in Surfing Magazine (inside back cover 2-page ad), trade magazines, Body Board Magazine and International Surf just to name a few. Jamaican Style was the sponsor of Reggae bands and athlete’s alike. The Men’s “Pot Leaf” hat that debuted in the early ‘90’s was worn by such Internationally known Rap Stars and Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
