Description
ICE – In Case of Emergency is an internationally recognized safety and preparedness concept denoting emergency information and raising awareness about personal preparedness.
The mark has been used in electronic devices to draw attention to emergency contact and medical information.
Other uses include the use of the mark in labels and stickers that can be affixed to items that serve a purpose in an emergency situation or disaster.
The design has been designed to accomodate co-branding to acknowledge the source/type of information or the organization supporting the use of the image as a preparedness/emergency tool.
The ICE image was specifically designed by safety professionals in July 2005 as a readily recognized safety image using safety specific colors and design.
ICE images can be adapted to recognize and promote safety promotions (e.g. Adopt A Hydrant Fire Safety Program).
In 2008 the ICE concept and image was recognized and advanced by the ITU – the International Telecommunications Union that promulgates international standards pertaining to electronics and communications (like HAM Radio).
The E.123 Standard is represented by the ICE E.123 Symbol – also Trademarked 5-10-11, Class 9 #3,958,179 Either symbol can be licensed for use.
